Film & Alternative Process

Film & Alternative Process brings together 35mm and medium-format photographs developed through both conventional chemistry and Ken’s experimental whiskey-bath process. The unconventional development introduces grain, streaking, staining, and surface marks that become part of the image rather than flaws to be removed. Because the chemistry reacts differently with each roll, no two negatives carry exactly the same marks.

Much of the current collection is rooted in Denver street photography—architecture, music, protest, public space, and people navigating the city. Some images confront homelessness, addiction, isolation, and the daily strain of survival. The work does not soften those realities, but it also does not assign a single cause or story to any individual pictured. Each encounter is treated as a social document shaped by dignity, tension, and the imperfect texture of lived experience.

Available sizes and presentation options vary by image. Digital matting and website branding are not included in the finished print; each print is signed by Ken. Contact Ken for current sizes, materials, and availability.
